An Abstract Take on Life and Art

Kyle Frazer is an American artist.  His work has been displayed and purchased by collectors across the United States and Internationally.  Kyle has emerged his distinctive style of painting and sculpture in the past couple of years.  His style has been defined by viewers as "fluid", "inspiring", "weightless".

Raised in Orange County, CA, Kyle has been exposed to a variety of lifestyles and environments.  From the lavish Newport Beach homes to the tents laid in Skid Row, his experience within Southern California has deeply influenced his art.

Kyle's unique abstract technique has emerged as his signature painting style.   His 2015 piece Fountains is a prime example of his style. Using different methods to paint, Kyle typically paints without brushes. "I don't like using brushes.  I either use my hands or things I have laying around. Even in my non-abstract pieces, I tend not to use a brush unless I'm writing words,  placing symbols, or need to add a minor detail."

Influenced by Los Angeles street art, some of his earlier works have included stenciled images.  Not So Happiest Place On Earth is example of his earlier work.  Created with trash and spray paint, Kyle compares the reality of Skid Row to the splurging that occurs just miles away at Disneyland.  "It's humbling and somewhat saddening to see how people live.  Some people work their entire lives just to realize what they need they can't buy. They try satisfying themselves with material goods and ignore the reality of their situation.  On the other hand, you have the poor wishing they had money.  They somehow believe that money will get them out of their rut. Anyone can see that money is not the answer.  Pick up a tabloid and see all of the richest people in the world struggling with the similar struggles and addictions the poor deal with."

As an artist, Kyle aims to take people away from their troubles for just a moment as they view his work.  "If my art can take a person away from their daily worries for just a moment, it was worth creating it." Other pieces are meant to relate and meet people exactly where they are.  A print Kyle created titled I Stopped Trying Here was inspired by the burnt out and exhausted feeling Kyle felt during his education. "I Stopped Trying Here was a piece I believe many of us could relate to now or at some point in our lives.  It represented a release of stress, expectations, and worries.  I made stickers of the piece and pasted them around the college I was attending at the time.  My goal was to show other students that there were not alone in their tiresome journey through education."

Some of his works are meant to provoke thought and stir emotion.  A 2014 piece entitled Intellectual Cliff is a prime example of the thought provoking emotion Kyle's pieces achieve. "I like to get people thinking for themselves. Many people just believe and support what's popular rather than searching for the truth."

Kyle continues to paint and think of new ways to create, motivate, and inspire.
